Before reading this article, take a look at Getting Started with Billing in ADR Notable. The following explains how billable items can be created automatically or manually, and then how you can modify them as needed.
Creating and Managing Billables
ADR Notable's billing function is straightforward and flexible to allow you to easily capture all your expenses. There are 3 ways that you can create billables for a Case.
#1 Automatically from the timer-generated Time Log
Whenever your Timer is running on the Case Noteboard, a billable is automatically created. If it is a general or plenary time log entry, the amount is divided pro rata among the parties, unless you have defined a custom split. If it is a caucus time log entry, it is billed to the appropriate party. Read more about using the Timers here.
#2 From a manually created Time Log
You can also create a time log manually (without using the Timer). This, in turn, creates a billable based on the time and other information you enter.
#3 From a manually created Billable Entry
In the Case Billing section, you can select Billables and manually create a billable for services or expenses. When entering an expense in this manner, you must enter the full amount, including any taxes.
Incomplete Billables
Billables that are auto-generated by manual time log entries or via the Noteboard timer will be marked “incomplete” until the User (1) enters the rate for the given professional and (2) defines how the billable item should be split among the Parties. The default for splitting the costs is an equal pro rata allocation among parties, but you can easily change that by selecting the Custom button and editing as needed.
To complete a Billable, simply select the incomplete billable in the Billables List and select the rate.
Now you are ready for the final step. See how to generate an invoice in ADR Notable!
